Legal
By creating an account or using CivicBulletin, you agree to these terms. If you don't agree, don't use the app.
You must be at least 13 years old. You're responsible for keeping your account credentials secure.
You can post reports, comments, and photos. By posting, you confirm:
You keep ownership of what you post, but you grant us a license to display it within the app to other users, for as long as the post exists.
Reports expire automatically on a fixed timer (the exact duration depends on category) regardless of votes — voting only signals whether other users still think it's accurate, and repeated "outdated" votes can cause a report to be auto-hidden.
Don't post content that is:
Don't attempt to abuse the voting, check-in, or rate-limiting systems (e.g. scripting votes, spoofing your location to fake a check-in).
We can remove content and suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms, with or without notice.
If you see content or a user that violates these terms, use the in-app "Report" option. You can also block a user, which hides their posts from you. Blocking doesn't notify the blocked user.
CivicBulletin is a platform for neighbours to share information. We do not independently verify hazard, construction, deal, event, or any other report. Confirm/deny vote counts are a community trust signal, not a guarantee of accuracy. Do not rely on this app as your sole source of information about a hazard, road condition, or safety issue — always use your own judgment and, for anything urgent (an active hazard, a crime in progress, a medical emergency), contact local emergency services directly, not this app.
The app is provided "as is," without warranties of any kind. To the maximum extent permitted by law, we are not liable for damages arising from your use of the app, including reliance on inaccurate user-submitted content.
Playground/Event check-ins require your device to report a location within a short distance of the pin, verified server-side; check-ins that imply impossible travel speed are rejected as likely spoofed. Attempting to circumvent this is a violation of these terms.
You can stop using the app at any time. You can permanently delete your account and data yourself from Settings → Danger zone → Delete account — see the Privacy Policy for exactly what is deleted versus anonymized. We may also suspend or terminate your account for violating these terms.
We may update these terms; continued use after an update means you accept the revised terms.
These terms are governed by the laws of the Province of Ontario and the federal laws of Canada applicable therein, without regard to conflict-of-law principles.
